Eastern Wild Turkey – One of The Most Subspecies hunted by Turkey Hunters
Many turkey hunters hunt eastern wild turkey, turkey that inhabits U.S. largest numbers. It is widely distributed throughout the United States and is one of several subspecies covering the American continent. Roughly speaking, The inhabits the eastern half of the United States. The Puritans first described in turkey in 1817 and back then, they named the turkey woods.
Some in birds this subspecies of wild turkeys can be very large. The male adult turkey, also called tom or gobbler, can grow to 4 feet tall and weighs over 20 pounds. It has stealth tail and the tips of the long tail feathers are tipped with chestnut brown in color and a dark yellow or chocolate brown. The breast feathers of turkey Eastern black, while the other feathers in the rest of the body are iridescent sheen. The iridescent sheen to the color range from the rich bronze metallic bronze.
The top row of wing feathers have white and black bar all the way from the pole tips. The lower range of feathers are mostly white and white is the blade and form a triangular white spot when the wings are folded up. Male turkeys are also nearby fatty flap their beaks called caruncles, that expands due to blood rushing to FLAPS when turkey was stunned. Men also often display a beard and a spur as a contrast in female turkeys.
Female birds can get almost as high as male turkey, but generally they are much lighter than the male turkey only around 7-12 pounds in weight. The female turkey is called a hen. Although the color is similar, the colors are more apparent in their iridescent sheen and female turkeys are much browner color. Female breast feathers instead of brown instead of black and tipped the head of the Eastern female turkeys are subject to a certain amount of feathers, while men are not. Female turkeys also does not contain caruncles around the beak.
The reproductive cycle of turkeys is in spring and young people are generally hatched during June and the beginning of the core summer. Gobblers court for their female in spring until they find one that accepts their dance. After mating, the female will produce a shallow nest by scratching the ground, rather than making a nest from the material. Station sites are chosen so that the hen as a good look around at the so nests are safe from avian predators. Hen will lay about 10-12 eggs in her nest and cover them carefully in the leaves and other materials that should he leave the nest before the period of incubation. Incubation period is approximately 27 days long and each time the hen will rotate the eggs.
Only hours after hatching, some poults dry and follow their mother sounds and learn to bond with its fast. They learn quickly how to choose food from the floor and other features turkey movement and behavior within 48 hours. At this point, male and female turkey is difficult to hold the weapon, but around fourteen weeks after hatching, they become more enlightened. Also advised that it is said that poults that survive the first 6 weeks of their lives is a great opportunity to make in adulthood. Over time, a pecking order is established then poults are ready to enter the general social structure of the turkey flock.
The Eastern turkey is one of the most hunted subspecies, but also the subspecies with the largest population on the continent. If hunters are hunting in the upper east United States, the time he was going to meet an Eastern turkey, than any other kind, is too high.
